Via VeloVision magazine comes a novel concept in bike racks: the PlantLock. The PlantLock is a bit pricey but looks like a potential solution to the problem where your spouse thinks that a bike rack on the front porch looks ugly. PlantLock could also be used in tony downtowns that eschew the common bike rack as too plebeian but don't want to spring for a custom design. Someone please import these into the U.S.!
I love the idea of having these in downtown areas. If nothing else, adding the little handles to existing planters etc. to create places for bikes to lock up.
ReplyDeleteLove the concept, but the rails need to be much thicker. Those don't look any thicker than a bog-standard u-lock, and they're probably not hardened either. It'd be no big think to bolt-cut a bike free - especially given the two feet of snipable rail space.
