MLK and bicycling

According to this biography for children, Martin Luther King, Jr liked to ride a bicycle as a child. But then again, who didn't?

Next month, we'll see all of the obligatory references to cycling great Major Taylor. Regardless of the level of melatonin in his skin, Taylor was an amazing cyclist and a very positive individual.

  1. I have a second-hand quote from Major Taylor taped to my fridge; it's originally from Booker T. Washington, but Taylor kept it in mind throughout the trials of his career:
"I shall allow no man to narrow my soul and drag me down by making me hate him."
Andrew Ritchie's biography of Taylor is one of the most inspirating books I've ever read. I highly recommend it whether or not you ride.

  2. oops--
Editing "inspirational" into "inspiring" resulting in "inspirating". Even Archie Bunker would be impressed.
